Library Educational Services

One-stop clearinghouse of information for liaison librarians and all librarians who teach.

Why we do assessment

Assessing students' Information Literacy skills at the individual class level is important for three primary reasons:

  1. It allows you to improve your skills as a teacher.
  2. You can see if students' are "getting" the concepts you are teaching.
  3. Class-level assessment can feed into programmatic assessment. This is vital for a programmatic approach to IL as well as demonstrating the impact of library educational services.
