Plagiarism
Neglecting to provide attribution can have disastrous results in political life. For example, plagiarism cost former Montana Senator John Walsh his graduate degree. Years after finishing his Master's Degree his college rescinded it when they determined Senator Walsh had copied large portions of it. This led to Senator Walsh quitting his campaign for reelection — an example of academic dishonesty coming back to haunt someone.
