3 - Academic Honesty

What is academic honesty?

Because of these different cultural expectations related to attribution, it is important to be aware of local expectations. IU Indianapolis takes academic honesty very seriously and has an academic honesty policy in the Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities, and Conduct.

Academic misconduct is defined by IU as "any activity that tends to undermine the academic integrity of the institution." IU Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities, and Conduct, II. Responsibilities, B: Academic Misconduct. Students are expected to uphold and maintain academic and professional honesty and integrity.

Academic misconduct can include (but is not limited to): cheating; fabrication; plagiarism; interference; violation of course rules; facilitating academic misconduct; and research misconduct.
