Resources for Visually Disabled and Print Disabled Students

This guide introduces resources that can help visually impaired and print disabled students in their academic and life endeavors.

Assistive Technology Available at IU Indy

IU Indianapolis's Accessible Educational Services offers a variety of assistive technologies that can be used by visually disabled or print disabled students. For example, the Kurzweil software provides "multiple means of access to text; whether in print or in digital formats," and includes the highest quality Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software available. Further information on AES' assistive technology can be found here.

Indiana University's Assistive Technology and Accessibility Centers also provide assistive technology to students. They have various assistive technology hardware and software options, including Livescribe pens, Dragon Professional, ZoomText, and more.

Assistive Technology for Phones and Computers

Most smart-phones, laptops, and desktop computers come with their own assistive technology software or downloadable software that can be helpful for visually disabled and print disabled people. Below are some guides on how to enable and use such software.
