ORCID is a great way for students to generate visibility for their work. ORCID profiles support a wide variety of output, from poster projects to student papers to video exhibits, conference papers, blog posts, websites, and even letters confirming your appointment to boards or panels. More information on building your ORCID profile can be found here.
Once you have an ORCID remember to use it! Your ORCID profile acts as a digital, portable CV allowing you to easily showcase your work, and allowing others to link to content easily. Add your ORCID to email signatures, online profiles, employment applications, manuscript submissions, scholarship applications, grant applications, and conference presentations.
All information in your ORCID record can be privacy controlled. You choose whether you want an item to be visible only to you, to trusted organizations, or to the public web. You control your preferred name and the institutions and entities that ORCID can harvest information from or share information with. If you need more guidance on privacy and visibility settings, contact orcidin@iu.edu.
