Evidence Clearinghouses

Evidence clearinghouses are collections of programs, policies, and interventions that have been reviewed, organized, and sometimes rated in terms of levels of evidence . Ratings reflect whether and to what extent the impact of a program is supported by evidence (usually collected for a systematic review). Evidence clearinghouses will also indicate which populations, health outcomes, and settings the programs were designed for.

When selecting an intervention or program, consider:

  • Population alignment: is it relevant to your population of interest?
  • Scale: was the study done locally or is it nationally representative?
  • Outcomes: a program may only be effective for the outcomes specified, and could have unintended consequences on other outcomes not measured.
