The American Board of Surgery is an independent, nonprofit organization founded in 1937 to provide board certification to individuals who have met a defined standard of education, training and knowledge in the field of surgery.

The American College of Surgeons (ACS) is a scientific and educational association of surgeons that was founded in 1913 to improve the quality of care for the surgical patient by setting high standards for surgical education and practice.

The ASGS represents the socioeconomic, political, scientific, ethical, and professional interests of General Surgeon Specialists.

A not-for-profit professional organization representing surgeons, researchers, and allied health care professionals who are dedicated to ensuring the best possible outcomes for surgeries of the heart, lungs, and esophagus, as well as other surgical procedures within the chest.

Founded in 1931, the Society represents 92 percent of all board-certified plastic surgeons in the United States, and more than 11,000 plastic surgeons worldwide.

The purpose of the Society is to advance the art and science of vascular surgery; to provide a forum for vascular surgeons, and to improve the delivery of health care in vascular disease.

The organization was founded in 1946 and currently has a membership of more than 6,300. It seeks to dvance excellence and innovation in vascular health through education, advocacy, research and public awareness.
