Each campus building has a specific Building Emergency Action Plan (BEAP) provided by Protect IU. The BEAP contains guidance for building occupants about emergency procedures and our individual responsibilities in an emergency situation. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with University Library's plan.
Protect IU offers information to guide individual employees in the event of an active aggressor situation on campus. Protect IU recommends that employees look for a safe area to shelter in place, if they are not able to safely leave the building. A list of library rooms that lock from inside is below. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the list and remember rooms close to your work area that might be good places for you to take shelter.
In the event of a fire or other emergency, the University Library Evacuation Plan provides helpful information about where to go. Please take a moment to read our building plan, so that you have an understanding of your options if we are asked to evacuate the building. The plan includes building maps with emergency exits, as well as the location of the two Automated External Defibrillators or AEDs that we keep in the building.
In the event of a tornado, library building occupants should proceed to the Lower Level, where the auditorium and available classrooms will be open.
Further information about being prepared for a tornado is accessible at the link below:
