What is Latino Studies?

Latino Studies involves the study of Latin American, including Caribbean, communities in the United States. It's a multidisciplinary field, requiring you, the researcher, to be very savvy and aware of research techniques for various disciplines. Throughout this guide, I'll provide tips and tricks and I'll also refer you to some of the other subject librarians at IUPUI UL who have different types of expertise.

For example, Latinos and Latinas make up 16.3% of the U.S. population according to the information gathered in the 2010 census. The Latino population in Indianapolis is growing, following a national trend. If you're interested in using census data or gathering other demographic statistics, you may enjoy working with Ted Polley, our Government Information librarian, or Jennifer Johnson, our Geography subject librarian.
