Using Journals to Brainstorm a Topic

If you are having trouble coming up with a research question or topic, browsing scholarly journals in the field can help.

  1. Look through the most recent couple of issues.
  2. See what topics and issues are being discussed.
  3. If you find an interesting article, read it, often there will be research topics at the end of the paper that are "additional questions" or "outside the scope of this paper" that make great research questions.
