Curating your Scholarly Online Presence

What is IU Indianapolis ScholarWorks?

Think of IU Indianapolis ScholarWorks as a virtual home for your works.

IU Indy ScholarWorks is our Institutional Repository (IR), maintained by IU Indianapolis University Library. Most universities have an IR.

In addition to journal article post-prints, you can also include works that are not specifically published peer-reviewed articles.

Items like presentation slides, posters, and conference abstracts can be uploaded.

Placing items in IU Indianapolis ScholarWorks creates a persistent link (handle), allowing you to link your work in your CV, as well as social media, Google Scholar, ORCiD, and more.

Do you have anything in the repository already?
Try searching your name!

To be added as a submitter to a collection, please email MedLRef@iu.edu.

Instructions to Submit

Before you upload, search IU Indianapolis ScholarWorks to see if a co-author did so already to prevent duplicates.

It is recommended to upload items as PDFs as this is the most stable format.

Tips & Tricks
  • Submitted items are sent to a librarian for approval. Once approved, you will receive an email notification with the permanent link to your item.
  • PDF is the preferred file format to upload.
  • The file name of your PDF will be visible. Change it before you upload if desired.
  • Thumbnails are automatically generated in a few days after upload.
  • Author names
    • List authors in order of appearance.
    • Do not include credentials in author names.
  • The citation field is the citation for your item. This is what others will copy-paste to cite your work.
  • You can add more than one file to an upload. E.g. a PDF of the slides, and a PDF of slides with transcript.
  • If you want to choose a Creative Commons license, please do not select CC0. This means "public domain" and you are relinquishing copyright (ownership) of your work.

What version of my article can I deposit into IU Indy ScholarWorks?

Pre-prints, post-prints, and (when rights permit) published versions can be shared by IU Indanapolis authors in IU Indianapolis ScholarWorks.

When in doubt, upload the post-print, aka the Author Accepted Manuscript (AAM).

If you need help determining which version please contact MedLRef@iu.edu for support.

article versions: preprint, postprint, published
